How old are you?
Bit cheeky aint it? I'm not telling you

How long have you been djing?
I started dj'ing in 1983/84 playing funk and soul.

What got you into djing?
Listening to dj/producer Greg Wilson on Mike Shafts Piccadilly Radio show in the early 80's. Mike Shaft used to have a fantastic funk/soul/jazz funk show every Sunday on the station and Greg Wilson used to do guest mixes on the show. Greg was one of the early pioneers of mixing in the UK and introduced early electro and hip hop to this country [visit
http://www.electrofunkroots.co.uk for more info]. I was simply blown away by what he was doing with the music, the way he would blend tracks together to make completely new ones and just the way he made the music flow... Awesome, just awesome!.
I started by doing my own edits of tracks with a couple of tape decks, then my mum bought me a reel to reel tape recorder and I got into splicing tape edits, the way Greg Wilson did. I then then saved every penny I had and bought myself a pair of Technics sl12000 mk2 and started mixing vinyl. I then got my first oppertunity to dj when, unknowingly, told the dj's girlfriend in a club that the dj was rubbish and that he should try mixing... She told him and he said, "you think you can do better, try it". So I did... Made a total balls up of it but shown I was was willing and given a job.
The rest is history.

How long have you been playing for Venus?
Since 2005 but promoted for Venus since 2001

Who would you aspire to dj with?
Any of the dj's I dj with now, they're really awesome.

Who is your favourite dj and why?
I know this might sound cheesy but, quite simply, the Venus residents. Venus has been going since 1999 for a few good reasons, one of the main one being the music and the dj's that know how to play it. You can reel off big names this and big names that, but they really dont get much better than what we have. I also love The Drumattic Twins, very inventive and talented.

What advice would you give to an aspiring dj?
Love and know the music you want to play and show a passion for it, it will shine through and make you great.

What does 2010 have in store for you?
I think 2010 is going to be a great year with the new club opening a new
adventure into the world of Venus.
I am, hopefully, looking to get back into recording and producing some new tracks. Ive finally unboxed my digital mixer and got my Mac sorted out... Its been far too long since ive done any.

Lets av it!!
